Biography

I'm originally from Virginia, and I have called L.A. home for 9 years. Raised on country, then delving into rock, jazz, bluegrass, R&B, and pop, I've always loved a variety of music - from Classical to Rap... after learning some guitar, I discovered my parents' folk records from the 60's/70's and fell in love with the intricate fingerstyle guitar playing and thoughtful storytelling. Soon after, I began writing songs for fun... I never thought it would take me anywhere. It was surprising to learn that I had a real passion for it and maybe even some talent. Over the years, that passion has grown into a bigger and bigger part of my life. In constant pursuit of "timeless" songwriting, I enjoy writing catchy, familiar, and often sentimental songs.

Performing music at private events was never something I had thought I would pursue. Sure, I had played them here or there over the years, but for a long time playing music was all about ME, writing, recording, and performing MY songs at restaurants, bars, clubs, music venues, and concert halls. Then I played my first wedding. Two close friends of mine that were tying the knot asked if I would play for their pre-ceremony, ceremony, and first dance. I was honored... so much so, that I was inspired to write them a song for that dance, which they insisted on waiting to hear until the day. I'm not going to lie, this gig was a little scary! This was their big day, a huge moment, and there were no do-overs... but I was excited. I played for an hour or so as the guests arrived, no problem... then came the specially requested songs for the ceremony and entrances/exits. Now listen, I have played for a crowd of over a thousand and let me tell you, that pressure was nothing compared to playing for a bride walking down the aisle! What a moment though... and it went perfectly. Which meant all that was left was the first dance. It was my first live performance of the song, the first time they would hear it, and again, just one chance to get it right. When I finished there were lots of tears and many smiles... it was a big hit. After all was said and done, the couple, family, and guests were all incredibly kind, thankful, and happy... and it was a powerful, beautiful, and fun experience for me as well. But what possibly meant the most, was the wedding planner, DJ, and the various members of the wait staff that all went out of their way to pull me aside at different moments and tell me how impressed they were, and how rarely that happens when you've done hundreds of weddings. It was utter astonishment when they learned I was just doing a favor for my friends and their encouragement really opened my eyes to the possibility of doing it again.

Not too long after, a couple who had attended the wedding asked me to play theirs... and then another... and another. The rest is history.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have a talent that I can share with people in a meaningful way! Reach out and hopefully I can share those talents at your next event!
